Sea Buckthorn Facial Oil: Why We Pair It with Cacay, Prickly Pear and Jojoba

Facial oils are sometimes discussed as though the choice of one “hero oil” determines the entire product. In practice, the balance of the whole oil system matters. Our Sea Buckthorn Serum combines sea buckthorn seed oil, cacay oil, prickly pear seed oil and jojoba oil in a concentrated botanical facial oil designed to nourish and condition the skin.

Why sea buckthorn seed oil?

Sea buckthorn is valued in cosmetic formulation for its naturally occurring lipid profile and antioxidant components. In this serum, it forms the foundation of a formula intended to help replenish dry-feeling skin, support a comfortable skin barrier and promote a healthy-looking glow.

We deliberately frame these as cosmetic benefits. A facial oil can improve how skin feels and looks, but it should not be presented as a treatment for medical skin conditions.

Why add cacay and prickly pear?

Cacay oil and prickly pear seed oil broaden the emollient profile of the blend. They help condition the skin and contribute to the serum’s nourishing sensory character. Rather than relying on a single botanical, the formulation uses complementary oils to create a more considered facial oil system.

The role of jojoba

Jojoba oil is technically a liquid wax ester and is widely used in skincare for its elegant emollient properties. Within this formula, it helps soften the skin and contributes to spreadability and skin feel.

Why vitamin E is included

The formula also contains tocopherol (Vitamin E). In oil-based cosmetic formulations, tocopherol is commonly used as an antioxidant and also contributes to skin-conditioning benefits.

What does the finished formula aim to do?

Sea Buckthorn Serum is designed to help skin feel softer, more supple and replenished, while supporting a radiant appearance. It is particularly suited to dry, dehydrated or dull-looking skin, although different skin types may enjoy facial oils depending on their routine and preferences.

Apply 2–3 drops after water-based skincare and gently press over the face, neck and décolletage. It can be used morning and/or evening. If used during the day, finish with sunscreen.

More than a single ingredient story

Our formulation philosophy is to look at the complete composition rather than make exaggerated claims around one fashionable ingredient. Sea buckthorn is central to this serum, but cacay, prickly pear, jojoba and vitamin E are part of what makes the finished formula work as a cohesive cosmetic product.

Cosmetic products can support the appearance and condition of skin; they are not intended to diagnose, treat or cure medical conditions. Individual results can vary.
