THD Ascorbate: A Modern Oil-Soluble Vitamin C for Brighter-Looking Skin

Vitamin C is one of skincare’s best-known antioxidants, but not every form of Vitamin C behaves the same way in a formulation. In our Vitamin C Glow Elixir, we selected Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate (THD Ascorbate), an oil-soluble Vitamin C derivative, as the central active in an anhydrous facial oil.

Why THD Ascorbate?

THD Ascorbate is compatible with oil-based formulations, which allows us to pair Vitamin C with an emollient botanical oil system rather than relying on a traditional water-based acidic Vitamin C serum. Our formulation is designed to support brighter, more even-looking skin while providing antioxidant care and a comfortable, silky skin feel.

For the customer, the important distinction is not that one form of Vitamin C is universally “better” than another. Different Vitamin C derivatives have different formulation requirements. We chose THD Ascorbate because it suits the design and sensory profile of this particular product.

Why combine Vitamin C with lycopene and turmeric?

Our formula does not rely on a single hero ingredient. THD Ascorbate is paired with lycopene and turmeric root oil as part of an antioxidant-focused formula. Together, these ingredients support our intended cosmetic benefits: helping improve the appearance of dullness and uneven-looking tone while supporting skin exposed to everyday environmental stressors.

The botanical oil system matters too

The Glow Elixir also contains jojoba oil, squalane, rosehip oil, sea buckthorn seed oil and pomegranate seed oil. These emollients help soften and condition the skin and complement the antioxidant actives. The result is a facial oil designed to leave skin feeling smooth and replenished rather than treating Vitamin C as an isolated ingredient.

Who is it designed for?

Vitamin C Glow Elixir is designed for skin concerned with dullness, uneven-looking tone, post-blemish marks and antioxidant support. Because it is oil-based, we recommend applying it after water-based serums. Use 2–3 drops over the face and neck, followed by moisturiser if desired. During the day, finish with sunscreen.

The SKINICAL approach

Ingredient percentages and fashionable actives alone do not determine whether a cosmetic formula is well designed. Solubility, ingredient compatibility, stability, sensory profile and the overall formulation all matter. Vitamin C Glow Elixir reflects that approach: THD Ascorbate provides the Vitamin C component, while lycopene, turmeric and carefully selected oils complete the formula.

Cosmetic products can support the appearance and condition of skin; they are not intended to diagnose, treat or cure medical conditions. Individual results can vary.
